Have Your Say on the City Council’s Priorities for the Next Four Years

Published
Gloucester residents are being encouraged to share their thoughts on what should be the top priorities for the city council over the next four years.

Residents are being asked to take part in a consultation on the council’s Corporate Plan which runs from 2025 until 2028 and will guide the city's future direction and development.

The plan’s main vision is ‘Putting the heart back into Gloucester,’ with three key areas of focus:

  • A vibrant and attractive city that celebrates Gloucester’s unique heritage.
  • Inclusive, thriving communities where residents feel safe, supported, and valued.
  • An innovative and accountable council focused on providing high-quality, accessible services and facilities.

A number of key projects will be included in the plan, including:

  • Completing the flagship development of The Forum.
  • Creating new job opportunities for local people and attracting new workers to the city, strengthening the local economy.
  • Establishing Gloucester as a cultural hub by celebrating its rich history and hosting exciting festivals.
  • Providing more affordable housing, improving support for homeless residents, and working with partners to ensure everyone has a place to call home.
  • Tackling the climate crisis through green initiatives, enhancing parks and open spaces, and making the city council zero-carbon by 2030.

The consultation will run until December 27 to gather feedback from residents.

Councillor Jeremy Hilton, Leader of Gloucester City Council, said: “This is an opportunity for everyone to get involved and to help shape the future of Gloucester. We want people to help us put the heart back into Gloucester and to create a vibrant city with thriving communities in which people feel safe, valued, and supported.”
