Grants Available for Flooded Households

Gloucester residents whose homes were flooded in the recent storm can apply to the city council for a Community Recovery Grant.

The grant offers financial support of up to £500 to help with immediate costs faced by householders who’ve been flooded.

Households significantly affected by flooding can also apply to have their council tax waived for at least three months or longer if they are still unable to return home.

The Government has made the funding available to areas that have been significantly impacted by flooding during Storm Henk.

Applications are open until March 1 and second homes, empty homes and student accommodation will not be eligible

Councillor Richard Cook, leader of Gloucester City Council, said: “My heart goes out to those whose homes were flooded recently. I know it was a very stressful time for many and hopefully this grant will provide some financial assistance to those who were affected.”

Information on the Business Recovery Grant will be available shortly on the city council website.
