Pay Your Council Tax
You can pay your Council Tax in a few different ways:
Online
Paying online is easy and secure using our 24 hour automated service
You’ll need:
- your Council Tax account number shown on your bill
- your debit or credit card details
Direct Debit
It's easier to pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit as it means you don't have to remember to make monthly payments. It’s also safe and secure.
- You can choose to pay on either 1st, 15th, 22nd or 28th of each month
- Almost two-thirds (66%) of our customers currently pay their Council Tax in this way – why not join them?
- You’re protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee
To set up a Direct Debit you’ll need:
- your Council Tax account number
- bank or building society name, branch and sort code
- account number and the name(s) on the account
Not all accounts can be used for Direct Debits. If you’re not sure check with your bank or building society.

You’ll need:
- your Council Tax account number shown on your bill
- your debit or credit card details

You can set up a standing order or make payment via BACS.

Other ways to pay
You can also pay in the following ways but please be aware that your payment may take longer to reach us:
Post office or PayPoint
You can go to any Post Office or PayPoint store. You’ll need your bill with you as it has a barcode linked to your account.
Post
Send a cheque made payable to ‘Gloucester City Council’. Write your Council Tax account number on the back of the cheque.
