King Charles III Coronation

Gloucester is going red, white, and blue to celebrate the Coronation of HM King Charles III and the Queen Consort.

To mark the Coronation of the King and the Queen Consort, Gloucester aims to create an unforgettable weekend with many activities for families, friends, and neighbours.
The city will be dressed in union jack flags and bunting, with Kings Square lit up in the three colours of the flag.

On Saturday 6th May, Blackfriars Priory, Ladybellegate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2HN will be screening the Coronation ceremony live at its craft gin festival, The Gin To My Tonic Craft Spirit.

Celebration continues Sunday 7th May, with The Big Lunch. Neighbours and communities are encouraged to get together and host street parties, while sharing friendship, food, and fun. More information will be shared nearer the events.

The Big Help Out comes to Gloucester

We proudly support the Big Help Out – a unique initiative which forms a part of the Coronation of the King and the Queen Consort. Starting on Monday 8th May, it’s a chance for everybody to experience volunteering in their local area.

On this day, Gloucester City Council is organising a volunteer litter pick on Robinswood Hill from 10 am - 12 pm and will provide volunteers with suitable equipment and gloves.

Volunteers across the city are encouraged to use this opportunity to meet their neighbours, chat, and have fun while being supported by Gloucester City Council staff on the day. Volunteers can sign up for the event on the Big Help Out App.

There is another opportunity to volunteer at Supporting Smiles Community Coffee Shop, 24 The Oxebode Gloucester GL1 1SA. They need 12 volunteers on the day, between 10 am – 2 pm. Those interested should contact Hash Norat at 07905 417266.
